Frequently Asked Questions
-
Schedule your physical with us or provide record of your most recent physical (within 1 year of your scheduled visit) for our healthcare providers to review. Remember to provide all of insurance and identification documents to our staff to verify.
-
We accept all major insurances carriers (Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Aetna and more)! We typically expect to be in network with nearly all PPO insurance policies (Participating Provider Organizations)
While we do see Medicare Patients, we typically only see Medicare patients who already were established with Rockwood Medical Clinic well before transitioning to Medicare (5 Years). This is a general response however, if you would like our staff to verify your network status, please feel free to upload your insurance information using the “Contact” page, click “Schedule an Appointment,” or click “Book Appointment” on any page at www.RockwoodMedicalClinic.com/Contact
-
We recommend uploading your insurance at least 72 hours before your appointment.
This will allow our staff to verify your insurance and let you know of any financial responsibility before you arrive for your appointment.
-
4 times per year! Rockwood Medical Clinic’s protocol requires 1 annual physical, and 3 routine follow up appointments every 3 months (90 days).
Example 1- Annual Physical Jan 1st, then your follow up appointments would be April 1st, July 1st, & October 1st.
Example 2- 1- Annual Physical Aug 1st, then your follow-up appointments would be November 1st, February 1st, & May 1st. The above example patient schedules may vary due to age, presence or lack of chronic conditions, and your needs for medication refills.
-
While every morning between 8:30-10AM can be quite busy Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays are typically our busiest days (Especially Saturdays). If you are in a rush, we recommend scheduling your visit after 10AM Tuesday- Thursday.
-
A long wait time can be due to a few reasons:
1-Did your appointment require a rush verification of your insurance benefits?
Unfortunately, a response from your insurance can be very time-consuming. Please make sure to turn your insurance information into our staff at least 72 hours before your appointment. This is particularly true on SATURDAYS! Most insurance verification portals close for maintenance over the weekend and their call center staff do not work weekends. So, we may be completely unable to provide a rush verification for you on any given weekend. We apologize for the inconvenience.
If there is ever an update to your insurance policy, contact us! DON’T WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE SICK! Our staff members are eager for any opportunity to reduce your wait time.
2- Is your appointment between 8:30a.m.-9:30a.m.? During this time we are prioritizing all patients who are fasting for their routine appointments. If your appointment is during this time, please know we will get to you as soon as possible.
-
1-The admitted patient most likely already had their insurance information on file and verified before their appointment.
2-Routine fasting appointments are prioritized for patient safety. Also, routine fasting bloodwork appointments do not always require the attention of the Healthcare Provider.
-
Rockwood Medical Clinic requires cancellation of any appointment with 24 hours notice for all appointments. However, 48 hours notice is required for IV Therapy appointment cancellation.
All Non-IV appointment Late Cancellation Fee: $25
IV Appointment Late Cancellation Fee: $50 (Decreased from $75 as of 8/1/2026)

While you may have been seen by our Healthcare Providers for separate issues, the issue requiring paperwork may not have been addressed during your visit. Please make sure to communicate to your Healthcare Provider that you need a specific condition addressed and documented in your chart for your paperwork to be completed.
Additionally, your issue may not have been addressed since your last visit. If we have not assessed your condition 90 days since your last 3-month check-up, we cannot complete your paperwork until updates have been made between you and our Healthcare Providers.

Rockwood Medical Clinic has the upmost respect for your investment in your health and your needs for accurate and up-to-date information.
While errors do occur, your request is most likely filled out correctly. As a “Whole Health” Osteopathic Practice, Rockwood Medical Clinic takes the entire patient into account. It is the Standard of Care and our protocol to assess any acute changes to your health plan that may occur. Due to our standard of care protocol, many factors may contribute to the shortened duration of your request.
VERY RARELY are Rockwood Medical Clinic’s Healthcare providers authorized to allow more than 3 months for refills or documentation, except in the occurrence of truly debilitating conditions affecting mobility.
Factors that contribute to the authorized timeframe of your request are as follows: Any changes in medication or dosing, the controlled or uncontrolled status of any chronic conditions, or your needs for referral visits and subsequent Coordination of Care Follow- Up appointments, and your demonstrated consistent participation in your healthcare plan.
Once your condition is documented as “controlled”, medication dosages have not been changed, and consistent communication of specialist consultation records to our office has been established Rockwood Medical Clinic requires 3 subsequent 3-Month-Follow-Up appointments to confirm your controlled status. After this 1-year period confirming your controlled status is complete, it is at discretion of Dr. Alex Guevara Jr., D.O. to authorize an extended request for 6 months. After 4 subsequent 6-Month-Follow-Ups of continued controlled status, Dr. Guevara may approve a 1-year documentation request on a Case-by-Case basis.
We realize that this lengthy process can be frustrating as these factors change with your life over time. Please be assured that your health is always our primary concern. Due to the rigor of our own standard of care, the standards put in place by our great State of Texas, & the level of scrutiny from employers requesting documentation it is EXTREMELY RARE that a 6 month or 1 year request is ever approved.

While there are some plans that we may participate in, we urge you to upload your insurance details with our verification staff before booking an appointment. HMO verifications may take longer to verify and receive a response from your insurance carrier. As always, if you have an emergency please dial 9-1-1 and visit your nearest Emergency Room!
